Lads Club Amateurs were formed at the beginning of season 2004/05 to provide a club that would be run by, and for, players. Co-founder, William Creamer, says, “It’s the players that make the club and so the club must adapt to suit their needs”. The link with Aberdeen Lads Club is also an important aspect to the new team. Some of the players have come through the ranks at ALC and this amateur team provides a continuation.

The Club had a solid start to amateur football, having a stable first season and narrowly missing out on promotion in season 2005/06.  Promotion was once again the aim the season after, and Lads Club delivered, winning the league well ahead of their nearest rivals.  2007/08 was a mixed year for Lads Club Ams.  Having perhaps their strongest squad, league form did not go as expected, and Club ended up just above the relegation zone.  However, the best was definitely to come in the Cup competitions, with Lads Club beating Theologians 3-0 in the White Cup final for their first ever trophy.  One that brought terror to Aberdeen's Retro Rooms that Wednesday night!!

Unfortunately, season 2008-09 saw Lads Club relegated from Divsion 1 North.  After a season plagued by injuries, suspensions, (and lack of players for some games!) it all came down to the final two games.  Lads Club were ordered to play a game against Dyce while half the team were enjoying a break in Magalluf, and managed to rustle together 6 players, and the game was forfeit.  This and defeat in the final game against Champions Sportsmans condemned the Club.

However, disappointment soon turned to joy for Lads Club supporters as the 2009-10 saw Lads Club once again crowned Champions in a very tough league!  A dramatic final day 2-2 draw with closest rivals Hilton just enough to see Club over the finish line after a season of league highs, cup-tie woes, and enough scandal to make Wayne Rooney blush!  Add to that a weekend of 'team bonding' in Liverpool and I think we can count 2009-10 as a very successful Lads Club season!

The 2010-11 season was one full of ups and downs.  Some poor performances in the league were countered by some exceptional performances in cup competitions, culminating in a final appearance in the Stephen Shield.  A solid finish in the league should also set up Lads Club for a successful 2011-12 season!

A mention should also go out at this point to Ross Mair, who was voted the Division 1 North Association Player of the Year.  A fantastic achievement, and well-deserved over the course of the season.

As suggested, team spirit is highly valued by the entire Club and regular social gatherings are encouraged. The club continues to demonstrate its commitment to the players with a weekends away in Edinburgh, Newcastle and Liverpool in previous years, and a few visits to Magalluf for a bit of R n R towards the end of the season.  Of course, it's all about team bonding, and not about drinking and women as some of the Lads Club WAGs have suggested.....  Another tradition that should be continued this year!

Finally, Lads Club Amateurs would like to thank their loyal band of supporters this season and hope that this would grow in coming seasons.
